How many bricks per m²?

A standard UK brick (215 × 65mm) with a 10mm mortar joint needs approximately 60 bricks per m² for a single-skin wall, or 120 per m² for a double-skin cavity wall. Always add 10% for wastage and offcuts.

How deep should MOT Type 1 sub-base be?

For patios and driveways, a compacted sub-base depth of 100–150mm is typical. Heavier loads (driveways with regular vehicle traffic) may need 150–200mm. Use our sub-base calculator above to estimate tonnes needed.
